Advanced BioHealing’s Dean Tozer to Participate in Panel on Convergence Technologies at Stem Cells USA
Panelists to discuss the challenges of commercialization for biologically active devices
Westport, CT – November 13, 2009 – Advanced BioHealing, Inc. (ABH), a leader in commercializing the promise of regenerative medicine, announced that Dean Tozer, Senior Vice President, will speak on a panel at Stem Cells USA & Regenerative Medicine Congress 2009. The panel, “Drug/Device Convergence: The Future of Biologically Active Devices,” will be held Wednesday, November 18, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Tozer and his fellow panelists will discuss how regenerative medicine products, as a convergence of pharmaceutical, biologic and medical device technologies, face unique challenges in development, manufacturing and commercialization. The group will also discuss how to manage scale-up, supply chain and commercial product logistics, as well as the importance of reconciling international regulatory guidance from raw materials through final product.
Joining Tozer will be moderator Gary Kurtzman, M.D., Vice President and Managing Director of Safeguard Scientifics and Chairman of Stem Cells USA & Regenerative Medicine Congress 2009; Dr. Tim Bertram, D.V.M., Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Science and Technology at Tengion; and Jack Harvey, M.S., Director of Manufacturing at Pervasis Therapeutics.
“Success in regenerative medicine is largely fueled by combining competencies from the device, biologic and biotech sectors,” said Tozer. “Companies in our industry are challenged every day to strike the right balance of sales and marketing, reimbursement, manufacturing, product development, logistics and regulatory strategies from each of these areas, while continuing their commitment to innovating some of the most fascinating new technologies. ABH has achieved significant growth by addressing commercialization challenges for these unique convergence technologies and I look forward to sharing how we faced the challenge head on to become a leader in the field.”
