Kevin Rakin

President of Regenerative Medicine

Kevin Rakin is President of Shire’s Regenerative Medicine business and a member of the company’s leadership team. He served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Advanced BioHealing, Inc. from February 2007 until the company’s acquisition by Shire plc in June 2011. From January 2006 until February 2007, he served as interim Chief Executive Officer as well as an executive-in-residence at Canaan Partners. Previously, Mr. Rakin was a founder and President & Chief Executive Officer of Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly-held pharmacogenomics company, until its merger with Clinical Data, Inc. in October 2005. He currently serves on the executive committee of Connecticut United for Research Excellence (CURE), Connecticut’s bioscience cluster. Mr. Rakin has previously served as a board member for Ipsogen SA, Vion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., OMRIX Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. and Clinical Data, Inc. Mr. Rakin holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and received an M.S. in Finance and a B.S. in Business from the University of Cape Town.

Kevin C. O’Boyle

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Kevin C. O’Boyle has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. since December 2010. From January 2004 until December 2009, Mr. O’Boyle served as the Chief Financial Officer of NuVasive, Inc., a publicly-held medical device firm focused on spinal applications. Prior to that time, Mr. O’Boyle served in various positions during his seven years with Clarient, Inc., formerly known as ChromaVision Medical Systems, Inc., a publicly-held medical device company specializing in the oncology market, including as its Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. O’Boyle also held various positions during his six years with Albert Fisher North America, Inc., a publicly-held international food company, before it was sold in 1996, including Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Operations. Mr. O’Boyle currently serves on the boards of GenMark Diagnostics, Inc., a publicly-held molecular diagnostics company, and Tornier N.V., a publicly-held global orthopedics company. Mr. O’Boyle received his B.S. in Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology and completed the Executive Management Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management.

Dean Tozer

Senior Vice President of Corporate Development

Dean Tozer has served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. since May 2009. Mr. Tozer joined us in June 2006 as Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Development. Prior to joining us, Mr. Tozer was a consultant to the biopharmaceutical industry assisting start-up organizations in developing marketing and commercialization strategies for both pharmaceutical products and biomedical devices. Preceding his consulting career, he spent ten years in the global pharmaceutical industry, primarily with G.D. Searle & Company, a division of Monsanto, where he had a wide variety of roles in global marketing, sales, business redesign and accounting and finance. Mr. Tozer also serves as an officer and board member of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine, a non-profit organization. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada.

Keith O’Briant

Senior Vice President of North American Sales

Keith O’Briant has served as Senior Vice President, North American Sales at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. since May 2009. Mr. O’Briant joined us in October 2006 as Vice President of Sales, to which he brought over 17 years of healthcare sales experience. Prior to joining us, Mr. O’Briant held a variety of sales-related leadership roles with Pfizer, Inc. Most recently, he served as a Sales Director leading a group of ten district managers and more than 100 sales representatives. Mr. O’Briant holds a B.A. in Business from the University of Louisiana.

 

Kathy McGee

Senior Vice President of Operations

Kathy McGee has served as Senior Vice President, Operations at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. since January 2011. Prior to serving in that role, she served as our Vice President and General Manager. She joined us in May 2006 as Executive Director of Operations when we purchased the Dermagraft and TransCyte related assets from Smith & Nephew plc. Previously, Ms. McGee served for four years as Director of Manufacturing at Smith & Nephew. Prior to joining Smith & Nephew, Ms. McGee began her career at Advanced Tissue Sciences, Inc., where she held numerous positions in manufacturing and quality control. Ms. McGee has been involved in the medical device industry, with a focus on tissue engineered medical devices, since 1992. She holds an M.A. in Management from Webster University and a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics and a Higher Diploma, with honors, in Education from National University of Ireland, Galway.

 

Therésa K. Dixon

Vice President of Government Affairs & Health Economics

Therésa K. Dixon is Vice President of Government Affairs & Health Economics at Advanced BioHealing, Inc., where she is responsible for leading the Company’s Government Affairs, Health Policy & Health Economics initiatives. Ms. Dixon joined the Company in January 2007 as Executive Director of Government Affairs & Health Economics. Previously, she was the National Director of Health Economics for Smith & Nephew, a leading developer of advanced medical devices in wound management, endoscopy and orthopedics. Prior to joining Smith & Nephew, she held a Senior Associate position at Covance Health Economics & Outcomes Services (previously Corning Inc.) supporting novel medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biologics placement into the U.S. healthcare payer system and marketplace. Ms. Dixon has worked in the biotechnology industry since 1995. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, an M.S. in Health Care Management from Marymount University, and a B.A. from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Charles E. Hart, Ph.D.

Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer

Charles E. Hart, Ph.D. is Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. (ABH). In this role, he is responsible for directing a science-driven strategic plan to support the use of Dermagraft in existing clinical applications and expand its use into new therapeutic areas. Dr. Hart joined ABH in February 2009 as Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Hart previously served as Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at BioMimetic Therapeutics, a company focused on the development of PDGF-based protein/device combination products for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Prior to joining BioMimetic in January 2004, he spent 21 years at ZymoGenetics, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on therapeutic proteins, where he held a variety of positions, including Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, Senior Director of Business Development, and Director of Protein Biochemistry. Over his career Dr. Hart’s research has focused on the discovery and development of protein therapeutics, several of which are on the market today. He is the author or co-author of 60 scientific publications and holds over 35 US patents. Dr. Hart received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington, his M.S. from Oregon State University and his B.S. from the University of California at Davis. He currently holds the position of Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Jennifer Barretta

Vice President of Human Resources

Jennifer Barretta is Vice President of Human Resources at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. (ABH). She joined the Company in March 2006 as Director of Human Resources, where she was instrumental in growing ABH from seven to more than 350 talented, engaged and motivated employees. Prior to joining ABH, Ms. Barretta served as Associate Director of Human Resources at Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading pharmacogenomics company, until its merger with Clinical Data, Inc. in October 2005. Ms. Barretta has more than 17 years of human resources experience in the biotechnology, transportation and entertainment industries. She holds a B.S. in Business Management from Syracuse University.
