Kevin Rakin

Kevin Rakin Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Kevin Rakin has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Advanced BioHealing, Inc. since February 2007. From January 2006, he served as interim CEO as well as an executive-in-residence at Canaan Partners. Previously, Mr. Rakin was a founder and President & CEO of Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly traded pharmacogenomics company, until its merger with Clinical Data, Inc. in October 2005. Mr. Rakin has been actively involved in the biotechnology industry since 1990. He serves on the boards of Ipsogen SA and Vion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He also serves on the CEO's Council of Red Abbey Venture Partners and the executive committee of Connecticut United for Research Excellence (CURE), Connecticut's Bioscience Cluster.

Mr. Rakin holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and received an M.S. in Finance and a B.S. in Business from the University of Cape Town.

Stephen Bloch

Stephen Bloch, MD Director, General Partner of Canaan Partners

Stephen Bloch is a venture partner with Canaan Partners and has been with the firm since 2002. His investment interests include biopharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical device, and healthcare infrastructure companies. Dr. Bloch is also a board member of Amicus Therapeutics, Marinus Pharmaceuticals, Omnisonics, and Viacor. Prior to joining Canaan, he founded Radiology Management Sciences and was a cofounder of TeleRad, a teleradiology services company.

Dr. Bloch received his medical degree from the university of Rochester, an M.A. in history of science and public policy from Harvard university, and a B.A. in history from Dartmouth College.

David Dantzker

David R. Dantzker, MD Director, General Partner of Wheatley MedTech Partners

David Dantzker is the general partner of Wheatley MedTech Partners, LP. Prior to this position, he was the President of the North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System and is the former Chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Dantzker earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed his pulmonary and critical care training at the University of California at San Diego. He has held faculty positions at the University of California, the University of Michigan, the University of Texas, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he is presently a Professor of Medicine.

Gary Kurtzman

Gary J. Kurtzman, MD Director, Managing Director Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.

Gary Kurtzman is Managing Director in the Life Sciences Group at Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE: SFE), a provider of growth capital for entrepreneurial and innovative life sciences and technology companies, where he is responsible for identifying and partnering with companies focused on molecular diagnostics, medical devices, regenerative medicine and specialty pharmaceuticals services. Dr. Kurtzman currently serves on the board of directors for Safeguard Scientifics' partner companies: Advanced BioHealing, Alverix, Avid Radiopharmaceutics, Molecular Biometrics, NuPathe and Tengion. Dr. Kurtzman was previously managing director of BioAdvance, an early stage life sciences investor, and held various positions at Pluvita Corporation, Genovo and Avigen, and Gilead Sciences. Gary Kurtzman is a board-certified internist with a hematology sub-specialty. He is the author of more than 40 peer reviewed scientific publications, reviews and book chapters and the inventor on 18 issued U.S. patents. Dr. Kurtzman is currently a lecturer in Health Care Management at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches bioentrepreneurship.

Dr. Kurtzman received his B.S. from Stanford University and his M.D. from Washington University and post-doctoral training at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and Stanford University.

Carol Winslow

Carol D. Winslow Director, Founder and Principal of Channel Medical Partners

Carol Winslow has spent more than 25 years in the medical technology industry, including 17 years of private and public medical technology investment experience. Prior to founding Channel Medical Partners, Ms. Winslow was the Senior Medical Device Analyst at Jefferies & Company, Inc., Vector Securities International, Inc., and Dain Bosworth Incorporated with responsibility for those firms' equity research activities within medical technology industry. Earlier in her career, Ms. Winslow held a variety of management positions with Medtronic, Inc. She serves on the board of directors of several private and public medical technology companies in Channel's investment portfolio.

Susan Barnes

Susan K. Barnes Director, Former CFO Intuitive Surgical

Susan Barnes was Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary of Intuitive Surgical from 1997 to 2005. Ms Barnes started at Intuitive Surgical as its first full-time finance person during its early development stages and left when Intuitive Surgical was a public company with a market cap of more than $3 billion and annual sales of over $400 million. Prior to joining Intuitive Surgical, Ms. Barnes worked in the investment community at Jefferies & Company, Westwind Partners, and Richard C. Blum and Associates. From 1985 to 1991, she served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NeXT Computer, Inc. Prior to forming NeXT with Steve Jobs, Ms. Barnes was Controller of the Macintosh Division at Apple Computer. Ms. Barnes serves on the board of directors of Northstar Neuroscience, Inc. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Bryn Mawr College and President of the Board of the Nueva School.

Ms. Barnes received a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
